MADISON, NJ – SEPTEMBER 2024 – Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute (ARI), a joint venture of Atlantic Health System and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, was recently named by Newsweek as one of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2024, earning the top spot (#1) in the Northeast Region on the list. This prestigious award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider.

Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute is a two-story, 38-bed rehabilitation hospital located in Madison, NJ, built from the ground up by Atlantic Health System. After opening in 2019, it quickly addressed a need for acute inpatient rehabilitation services within New Jersey and has developed a reputation for high quality care in the region.

“This award highlights the high level of care our team delivers every day in our mission to help each patient recover as fully as possible and return to their lives and families,” said Saif Salim, Chief Executive Officer of Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute. “It’s a mark of distinction that lets patients and their caregivers know that they can expect an experience that is best in the region.”

Specializing in neurological rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and amputation, ARI offers state-of-the-art technology and therapies, such as bionic assisted movement systems, therapeutic courtyards, fully outfitted rehabilitation gyms and a dedicated ADL (Activities of Daily Living) suite.

The America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2024 ranking awards the leading physical rehabilitation facilities in the U.S. that were identified according to the definition of Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (IRFs) by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). IRFs are free-standing rehabilitation hospitals and rehabilitation units in acute care hospitals.

The 25 states with the most facilities according to the CMS were ranked individually. The facilities from the remaining states were grouped into 4 regions: Northeast, Midwest, West, and South. The list is based on four data pillars:

  • Quality Metric: Data for IRFs published by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
  • National Online Survey: An online survey among experts with knowledge of physical rehabilitation centers (physicians, physiotherapists, doctors, clinic managers, and other health care professionals) was conducted in cooperation with Newsweek.
  • Accreditation: Data on physical rehabilitation centers provided by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and the Model Systems Knowledge Translation Center (MSKTC).
  • Google Reviews: Reviews from Google were included as a proxy for patient satisfaction.

Statista publishes hundreds of worldwide industry rankings and company listings with high-profile media partners. Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute was previously recognized by the New Jersey Business and Industry Association with its Good Neighbor Award in 2020.
