Fabio Frisoli, MD, FAANS, is a neurosurgeon with Atlantic Brain and Spine, chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at Overlook Medical Center, director of skull base surgery at the Gerald J. Glasser Brain Tumor Center and the medical director of neurotrauma at Morristown Medical Center. Board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, he is fellowship-trained in brain tumor and skull base surgery, and provides the most comprehensive and innovative treatments to benign and malignant conditions of the brain, skull base and spine.
Dr. Frisoli is skilled in the most advanced techniques in traditional and minimally invasive surgery to address cysts, growths and tumors in the delicate area of the skull base, which is important for vision, hearing, balance, facial movements and sensation. Because this area is hard to reach, he collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of experts from many different specialties to provide safe, effective treatment to achieve the best outcomes. Dr. Frisoli understands that surgery of this nature instills great stress on patients and their family members, and his calm, compassionate and personable manner helps to put patients at ease. The integrated team approach, starting with the initial diagnosis through surgical intervention, post-operative follow-up care, and emotional support, helps to return patients to their normal activities of daily living as quickly as possible. Dr. Frisoli has authored numerous publications as well as book chapters and has presented at professional meetings on topics in neurosurgery. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS) and a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the North American Skull Base Society.
After earning his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine where he earned a distinguished research award from the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Dr. Frisoli completed his residency in neurosurgery at New York University School of Medicine, NYC. He then pursued a fellowship in cerebrovascular and skull base surgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, AZ, the world’s largest neurological disease treatment and research institution. In addition to English, he speaks Italian, Spanish, and French. Dr. Frisoli is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
