Bankim P Shah, MD

Bankim Shah, MD, is a sleep specialist with Atlantic Medical Group (AMG). Board-certified in internal medicine with a subspecialty in sleep medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, he has more than 10 years of experience treating all types of sleep disorders and has a vast background in internal medicine. For more than a decade he has been devoted to diagnosing and treating a broad range of sleep disorders in adults and children including sleep-related breathing disorders, Restless Leg Syndrome, movement disorders, narcolepsy, hypersomnia, insomnia, parasomnias, and circadian rhythm disorders. He is dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care to all patients and ensuring they are educated about their condition and treatment.

After earning his medical degree from Pramukhswami Medical College in India, Dr. Shah performed a residency in internal medicine at Jersey City Medical Center and RWJ Barnabas Health, Jersey City, NJ. He then completed a fellowship in sleep medicine at Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ, and Hackensack Meridian Health, Edison, NJ.

Prior to joining AMG, Dr. Shah served as a clinical director in Maplewood, NJ, and a hospitalist in Jersey City, Hoboken, Secaucus, and Morristown, NJ. He believes in communication, mutual understanding, trust, and having objective outcomes during a visit with his patients. He enjoys making improvements in patients’ health throughout their life and finds gratification in improving their quality of life. He is a member of the American Medical Association and American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
