Morristown Medical Center Ranked New Jersey's Top Hospital for Fifth Consecutive Year

MARCH 2015, MORRISTOWN, NJ  – Morristown Medical Center was ranked by physicians as the top hospital in New Jersey (with more than 350 beds) for the fifth consecutive year by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., one of the nation’s most respected health care research and information companies. These rankings are published in Inside Jersey magazine’s April 2015 issue.

Among hospitals with more than 350 beds, Morristown Medical Center was also top hospital for the treatment of breast, prostate and pediatric cancers, bypass surgery, hip and knee replacement, and the treatment of congestive heart failure, high-risk pregnancies, strokes and neurological disorders.

More than 3,000 licensed physicians in New Jersey were invited to participate in the online survey by Castle Connolly, which was distributed in the fall 2014. Physicians cast more than 30,000 votes on the treatment of specific medical conditions and top overall hospitals in the state. The results were divided into two categories: hospitals with more than 350 beds and those with 350 beds or fewer. Morristown Medical Center, which has 687 beds, ranked as the top hospital overall with more than 350 beds. The full rankings can be found online.

For 2014-2015, U.S. News & World Report ranked Morristown Medical Center as one of the top five New York metro area hospitals and one of the best hospitals in the nation in cardiology & heart surgery, geriatrics, gynecology, orthopedics and pulmonology, and also ranked the hospital high-performing regionally in cancer, diabetes & endocrinology, gastroenterology & GI surgery, nephrology, neurology & neurosurgery and urology.

A Magnet hospital for nursing excellence and a national Beacon Award winner, Morristown Medical Center has proven itself as a top destination for quality care in New Jersey and one of the best in the New York metropolitan area. The Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Morristown Medical Center encompasses the largest cardiovascular program in New Jersey, performing more than 1,500 heart surgeries annually, more than any other cardiovascular facility in the state. Morristown Medical Center’s trauma center is verified as a Level I Regional Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons and designated as a Level II by the state of New Jersey. The hospital is also a Level III Regional Perinatal Center to care for critical mothers and newborns.
