For Visitors
Morristown Memorial Hospital welcomes patient visitors. Visiting relatives and friends can improve patient morale and aid in recovery. Please remember, however, that rest and quiet are essential for the patient's well-being.
The following guidelines have been established in cooperation with our staff to ensure the proper balance for our patients:
- Visitors are limited to two people at a time in order to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of our patients, and to assure a restful environment.
- Children visiting should be over the age of 12. We ask that children not be brought to visit if they have been exposed to a communicable disease.
- Morristown Memorial is a smoke-free hospital.
- Visitors should use the public restrooms located on each patient floor rather than patient bathrooms.
- In the best interest of the patients, no live plants or fresh flowers are permitted on the Oncology Patient Care Unit (Franklin 4).
- To protect patients’ privacy and minimize noise, cell phone use is restricted to waiting rooms and common areas such as the cafeteria, lobby and meeting rooms. Use of the camera feature on cell phones is prohibited.
- As a courtesy to patients, please do not sit on patient beds.
- You may be requested to leave a patient’s room during an examination. A nurse will indicate when you may return.
- Overnight stays in the patient's room are generally not permitted. For extenuating circumstances, contact the Nurse Manager.
- Persons with colds or infections should not visit.
- In case of a fire, visitors should remain where they are until they receive instructions from the hospital staff and the Fire Department personnel. Do not use the elevators.
