Morristown Medical Center’s Luciano Family Trauma and Acute Care Center is verified as a Level I Regional Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons and designated a Level II by the state of New Jersey.
Our surgical critical care and trauma team have one goal: to return the patient to the highest level of functioning. We have been providing excellent patient outcomes for more than 10 years, offering the highest level of care and injury prevention efforts. We also provide rehabilitation evaluation and services.
The most severely injured patients are brought to us by ambulance or helicopter. They are welcomed by our trauma team, who can quickly diagnose and treat life-threatening injuries.
In addition, there is an on-call roster of board-certified subspecialists immediately available when activated by the primary trauma team, in fields such as spine surgery, urology, vascular surgery, pediatric surgery, hand surgery, interventional radiology and cardiology. In addition, our trauma surgeon-critical care doctors manage patient care in the ICU.
Neuro Trauma
More than one million people each year sustain a traumatic brain injury (TBI), a sudden physical blow to the head that may cause a contusion (bruising of the brain), a hematoma (bleeding around the brain) or both, and can damage the brain, leading to coma and even death.
Morristown Medical Center's Trauma Center treats neuro trauma patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Luciano Family Trauma and Acute Care Center partners with local communities’ emergency services to ensure that acutely injured patients arrive at Morristown Medical in a timely manner and are treated as quickly as possible. In addition, our health care team conducts trauma research and offers community education and injury prevention programs.
